There are four main types of units, aside from companions, that you need in your army:ġ) Heavy Infantry - Heavily armed footsoldiers with the biggest shields and best armor.Ģ) Heavy Cavalry - Cavalry is king of the open battlefield. Remember - Focus at first on the mid-teir troops as a goal when picking out raw recruits.

Don't count on that! In fact, what you need to focus on is the middle of the tree and you need to upgrade your unit to a position in which they can be of the most use to you and have the desired upgrade path should they gain enough experience to reach it. It takes a very long time and a heck of a lot of experience to upgrade a unit from its starting point to its top-tier level. When you're examining the troop trees, don't just look at the final unit upgrade. The army most likely to win any battle is going to be the player's, provided your have a ratoinal assortment of troops for the stage of the game you're playing. They have awesome archery skills, fast horses, insanely fast one-handed weapons, and decent shields. best all around troop - Aqata Borjigin (Tier VI Khergit horse archer) most effective heavy cavalry - hochmeister (Tier VI) best slave catcher - slave crusher (Tier V) cheap garrison archer - freelance expert archer (Tier V) Find troops that give you a nice balance between ability and cost. I strongly recommend that you do not attempt to run around with a huge army of top tier troops.

Upgrade cost and experience are high, and salaries for high end troops are very high. There is one important thing to keep in mind about Floris, though. You can get a perfectly good idea of what troops you have to play with. I'm surprised that no one has mentioned that Floris has a report that allows you to view all troop trees, and to examine the stats and equipment loadouts of every troop.
